About the project

Haringey has established a Community Panel to understand the impact that the recent riots have had on the community and place of Tottenham. The Panel will develop recommendations on actions to ensure continued confidence in Tottenham as a place of choice – to live, work, study and invest. To do this, the Panel agreed that it needs to engage local people in a structured conversation to develop an evidence base on which to build its recommendations.

The Young Foundation was commissioned in October 2011 by the Panel to run a series of community workshops to understand the impact the recent riots have had on local people and Tottenham. The Young Foundation held workshops in October 2011 with local businesses, residents and young people to discuss their experiences of the riots and find out how they affected them. These workshops looked at how we could together deal with any local issues.

This piece of research has now been completed and the Young Foundation has submitted findings to the community panel. The panel will be releasing more information in January. If you have any questions on the work of the community panel or the results of this work, please contact Haringey Council.
